Suitable Treatment

Suitable Treatment
The term is a euphemism for the killing process directed toward the Jews following the Nazi decision to implement the Final Solution in mid-1941. Reinhard Heydrich stated that Jews capable of work would be moved into the anticipated conquered areas of the Soviet Union to build roads and provide other forms of forced labor. Heydrich envisioned that a large number of Jews would die as a result of the work conditions, but that a small remnant would survive. Because these Jews would represent the most physically resistant, they would ultimately be targeted for “suitable treatment, lest they become the germ-cell of a new Jewish revival.”
