Genghis Khan

Genghis Khan
(1162–1227)
On the eve of Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland in September 1939, Adolf Hitler told his leading generals, “Our strength lies in our speed and our brutality. Genghis Khan hunted millions of women and children to their deaths, consciously and with a joy in his heart. History sees in him only the great founder of a state.” Both Hitler and Heinrich Himmler admired the ruthlessness of Genghis Khan, and the founder of the Mongol Empire may have been the model for the subsequent ruthless Nazi campaign in both Poland and the Soviet Union.
