- Black Book Of Soviet Jewry
The Black Book was compiled by Soviet Jewish writers Ilya Ehrenburg and Vasily Grossman, along with additional Soviet writers and poets, who collected testimonies and documents concerning crimes against Soviet Jews by Nazi Germany following its invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. One of the projects initiated by the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee was to take testimonies from Jewish survivors and non-Jewish witnesses beginning in 1942. The first version was completed by the end of 1944. Subsequently, The Black Book was published in English in 1981. At the end of 1987, the material in the Ehrenburg archive was opened to the public at Yad Vashem in Israel and included an almost complete handwritten manuscript of The Black Book.
