Special Responsibilities On Orders Of The Fuhrer

Special Responsibilities On Orders Of The Fuhrer
Following Nazi Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, the Einsatzgruppen units of the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA) were ordered to liquidate “Jewish Bolsheviks,” which meant the murder of Soviet party and state functionaries as well as the intelligentsia. The Fuhrer’s order issued to Heinrich Himmler in March 1941 served as the basis for the Einsatzgruppen to act independently of the Wehrmacht and subsequently to decide who was considered part of the “Jewish-Bolshevik intelligentsia, rather than the military.”
