Aliya Bet

Aliya Bet
As the situation worsened for Jews in Germany during the 1930s, the Jewish Agency executive in Palestine, together with the Revisionist Zionists, organized illegal immigration into Palestine under the code name Aliya Bet. Although the Jews who arrived in Palestine without entry certificates were considered illegal immigrants by the British, the Jewish Agency referred to the immigrants as having made aliya or legal immigration.
