Criminal organizations

Criminal organizations
Soon after the Allied victory over the Nazi government, a series of military tribunals were convened in 1945 for the purpose of trying the Nazi leadership for war crimes. The so-called Nuremberg Trials condemned the Schutzstaffel (SS), Gestapo, and the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) as criminal organizations. The Gestapo and SD were identified as having been responsible for “the persecution and extermination of the Jews, brutalities and killings in concentration camps, excesses in the administration of occupied territories, the administration of the slave labor program and the mistreatment and murder of prisoners of war.”
